Watch the Throne

Tuesday night I had the pleasure of attending Jay-Z & Kanye West's Watch the Throne Tour. Anybody who knows me, knows how I feel about Kanye West. He's my favorite living artist. (Rest in peace to the leader of the Jackson 5) Also, It was my first time seeing Hov in concert so excitement isn't a word to adequately describe the feeling I felt when Sean Carter was 8 feet away from me. (VIP Seats, fancy, I know) I was able to see my favorite living artist, Kanye West and even shake hands with him. & Yes, I washed my hands afterward. The energy of the them x the energy of the crowd x the super liveness of my sister and I in VIP = One of the Best Concerts I have ever been to.

VIP has it's perks man. Other than sitting DIRECTLY in front of the second stage, I sat next to Tina Knowles... yeah, Beyonce's mom. So I basically sat next to Beyonce right? Lol. Here's the funny thing about that... my sister, who is the ultimate Beyonce stan noticed "Julius" securing the perimeter before the show started. You're probably wondering who Julius is? So was I. According to my sister, that's Beyonce's bodyguard. We're not even gonna get into her knowing him by name... SO, we initially expected Beyonce to walk into the VIP box sometime soon. My sister was hyperventilating. Luckily for me and the people around us, Beyonce didn't come out, her mother Miss Tina did.

During the show as I examined the area I noticed some other famous folks in the VIP area, one being the Dallas Maverick's Dirk Nowitzki chillin' BEHIND me with some black chick. I SEE YOU DIRK! Had he been a Laker I may have cared a bit ;]

ALSO, after the show, I noticed VIRGIL ABLOH, just chillin'! I was like "OMG! THAT'S VIRGIL ABLOH!" & my sister was like "Who is that?" and I almost fainted. I called him over by saying "Mr. Virgil!" and he laughed. I didnt' realize how ridiculous that sounded. He was such a nice guy. Before the picture he asked "What's your name?" I said "Yinka" and he said "Fantastic".

In conclusion, Watch the Throne tour was nothing short of amazing and I'm so glad I had the opportunity to go.

My ticket, excuse my chipped nail.

She Will Be Loved

Last night I went to see Maroon 5 with my lovely friend Sebastian. We had lawn seats but of course half way through the set we worked our way down closer to the band. Train and Matt Nathanson opened for them. I wasn't familiar with Matt and I only know Train from songs like "Drops of Jupiter" & "Soul Sister" which I find funny since there were probably a total of 50 "sistas" in the crowd. We missed Matt Nathanson but we got there in time for Train. The lead singer is a great performer and although I didn't know much of their music I still enjoyed them and that's what makes a great performer in my opinion, being able to capture the crowd. They also added African style drums to "Soul Sista" in their set which I thought was pretty dope. A guy proposed to his girlfriend during their song "Marry Me" which was disgustingly adorable. When Maroon 5 finally came out they killed it. They performed all my favorites beside except "Infatuation". Adam sounds amazing live and they did a stupendous job. Them boys got soul.

P.S: This post is dedicated to my sister since she is IN LOVE with Adam Levine & was super jell I got to see her man live ;]

Yinka Day Weekend

I hope all of you had a nice labor day weekend. I usually spend my labor day 3 day weekends in the Hamptons with Beyonce and the rest of my celebrity friends. Bey's birthday is the 4th and mine is the 5th so we like to celebrate together. However this year I wanted to do something different. I turned 18 on Monday and life has been great ever since. I'm a very blessed girl.

Saturday night my sister and I went to the Arlington Improv and saw Godfrey perform. I have never laughed so hard consistently in my life. He is an amazing comedian. Unfortunately cameras weren't allowed out in the show room when he came on so I only got one of the stage.

My sister is Miss Texas.
She's an Egyptian too.
I'm a dork.

Sunday was pretty chill. It's the Lord's day so after Church I did laundry, did my nails, and watched the Lord's sunday lineup: True Blood, Keeping up with the Kardashians & Entourage.

Monday was my birthday! Woohoo! I'm 18 now. Does anyone want me to buy them cigarettes? I spent the day with family, being treated like a Queen.

IAMDONALD

Last night I had the pleasure of going to the Dallas stop of Donald Glover/Childish Gambino's "IAMDONALD" tour. Let me just say this now....he can totally get it.
The coolest part about the show is that he opened...for himself. He did standup for20-25 minutes then got into his music. I don't wanna be a spoiler for those of you who will be seeing him in your city, but it's a funnyass transition.
^Feelin' it.
Donald Christ
I've got this Sunday baby, I wanna spend it with you.

After the show I waited around to see if Donald would come back to the stage to chop it up with us, 30 minutes passed & he didn't. I saw his crew packing up so I knew he was getting ready to go on the bus. (I've been to shows at that place before, I know the routine, I'm no creep)
^The SUHCURITY guard jumped in our pic, cool guy.

My friend Brooke and I went to the back where his tour bus was parked with about 15-20 other fans who were crowded around yellow caution tape, lol. We waited for around 20 minutes & then he came out. He is THE sweetest, funniest, most down to earth guy ever. He went down the line taking pictures, signing things and actually speaking to each and everyone of us who said something. I cracked a couple of jokes that he laughed at. I even got to do the "Biblioteca" rap from Community with him for the 3 seconds I knew and this other kid came through and killed it. He knew the whole thing. It was great. I'm an even bigger fan now.
^Before this one I go "Can I be the darkskin girl in your video?" LOL & he pulled me in for a cheek kiss but the guy taking the picture missed it, I frowned, and he tugged me like that all jokingly to cheer me up.
^Of course my kiss was captured ;]

The show was awesome, the vibe of the crowd was so excellent and Mr.Glover put on a terrific performance. He's definitely NOT just a rapper.

P.S. I have a couple of videos I would upload if Vimeo would get some sense. Smh. Stay tuned!
