I've always been a fan of unconventional love stories like these. I don't want to seem anti Disney and The Notebook and the generic romcom but the story told in this film is real life for way more people than the story of Noah and Alley.
I don't want to give the movie away so i'll just comment on something totally superficial but significant nonetheless that I noticed throughout the film... Rashida Jones' character, Celeste, begins the movie wearing virtually nothing but black clothing but as the movie progresses starts to add pops of color in her wardrobe. I'm pretty sure it was on purpose and if not it was great since it definitely ties into the plot movie.
